Contingent No. 7 triumphs Golden Harvest Street Dancing, Ground Presentation

MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon – Contingent No. 7, composed of Barangays Batangan, Vintar, and Sinabuagan, stole the spotlight during the 24th Charter Day Celebration of Valencia City, Bukidnon, on January 12, 2025

Contingent No. 7 clinched the top spot in both the Golden Harvest Street Dancing Competition and the Ground Presentation.

The contingent also earned two Special Awards from the Valencia City government: Best in Costume and Best Product Queen.

Contingent No. 4, representing Barangays Mabuhay, Maapag, and Pinatilan, finished as the first runner-up in both the Street Dancing and Ground Presentation categories.

Contingent No. 6, comprised of Barangays Colonia, Nabag-o, and Mailag, secured second place in the Street Dancing Competition.

Meanwhile, Contingent No. 5, representing Barangays Banlag, Sinayawan, and Dagat-kidavao, placed second in the Ground Presentation. (melbmadera)

Ang kalihokan alayon sa 2nd Bukidnon Press Freedom Week (BPFW) Celebration nga gisaulog sa Agosto 25-31, 2024.

Sa pagpasayon sa PGO-Public Affairs, Information and Assistance Division, napalawig sa nagkahiusang hugpong ug pwersa sa prensa sulod sa probinsya sa Bukidnon ang kalihukan nga nagtumong sa pagtabang ug pagsuporta sa komunidad nga nanginahanglan.

Sa sayo pa, isa ka motorkada ang gipahigayon diin ang mga media sa amihanang bahin sa probinsya, ug ang mga media sa habagatang bahin nagkatagbo sa Barangay Aglayan dayon nagkahiusa padulong sa Sityo Mampalanay, Brgy. Lilingayon subay sa dalan sa Barangay Basac, Lantapan, Bukidnon.

Natunol sa mga residente ang food packs, school supplies, school armchairs, mga tsinelas, used clothings, ug ang mga binhi sa utanon nga gipangtisok usab sa grupo nganha sa ilang communal garden, agig suporta sa Bahay Kubo Program ni Provincial Governor Rogelio Neil P. Roque.

Lakip sab sa kalihokan ang feeding program ug free haircut.

Natanum sab ang 500 ka seedlings sa calamansi nga sa umaabot mamahimong isa sa tinubdan sa kahinguhaan sa komunidad.

Lantapan LGU provides communication skills training, empowers LGBTQIA+ as change agents

MALAYBALAY CITY (January 7, 2025) — To empower LGBTQIA+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, and other identities) as catalysts for change, the local government unit (LGU) of Lantapan conducted training in Malaybalay City on December 18-19

The workshop focused on social media management, news writing, and broadcasting, emphasizing the media’s power to amplify marginalized voices and shape public discourse.
Participants delved into the intricacies of social media platforms and guided participants in crafting impactful content, building strong online communities, and effectively combating misinformation.
The training empowered LGBTQIA+ members to harness the power of social media to raise awareness about their rights, promote inclusivity, and foster meaningful dialogue on critical community issues.
These skills are crucial for empowering LGBTQIA+ individuals to share authentic stories that challenge stereotypes, celebrate diversity, and bring attention to the issues impacting their community.
Beyond technical skills, the workshop emphasized the participants’ ethical responsibilities, encouraging them to approach content creation with integrity and respect for all individuals.
By combining technical expertise with a strong advocacy foundation, the program ensures that LGBTQIA+ members are not only skilled communicators but also effective agents of change.
This initiative by the Lantapan local government underscores the significance of inclusive governance and active participation in societal discourse. By equipping LGBTQIA+ members with valuable media skills, the LGU fosters a more informed and empowered community, ready to take on leadership roles and advocate for positive change.

LGU’s Support

Lantapan Mayor Ernie Devibar acknowledged the LGBTQIA+ community as an integral part of the locality.
“In Lantapan, we actively include our LGBTQIA+ community in our initiatives and programs. Every June 12, during the Independence Day celebration, we organize events for our LGBTQIA+ community, where they can showcase their talents through pageants and other activities. This reflects the Lantapan local government’s commitment to creating a more inclusive and equitable society where the voices of all its citizens, including the LGBTQIA+ community, are heard and valued,” the mayor said.
Dem Alfonso, 19, thanked the Lantapan local government for this valuable opportunity.

Hedcor gives P3.2-M shares to Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon

MANOLO FORTICH, Bukidnon (July 16, 2024) – Mayor Rogelio N. Quiño receives the municipality’s community shares from Hedcor represented by External Relations Manager for Mindanao David Tacder and Assistant Vice President for External Relations John Michael Rico

The local government plans to allocate the shares to priority projects widening healthcare service access to remote barangays, enhancing support for early childhood education, and improving safety and security through the installation of additional solar street lights.

Broken down, P1.59 million in community shares and P1.63 million in ER 1-94 funds were sourced from the operation of Hedcor’s two hydropower plants in Manolo Fortich, covering the period of July to December 2023.

ER 1-94, a policy of the government, was enacted to ensure that host communities get a reasonable share of the profit from power plants operating in their area. It states that these communities will receive one centavo for every kilowatt hour (P0.01/kWh) generated.

“Thank you very much, Hedcor family, for the significant amount received by the local government. Thank you also for your help to Manolo Fortich. It has been our great dream that a company investing in our town can assist our fellowmen, especially those in need,” said Quiño.

During the 107th Charter Day celebration of Manolo Fortich, the local government recognized Hedcor as one of its top taxpayers for fiscal year 2023, commending its support for the municipality’s programs.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to support the municipality of Manolo Fortich in its efforts to improve the community’s quality of life. We are aligned in our efforts to foster sustainable growth and make a positive difference in the lives of the residents,” said Hedcor President and Chief Operating Officer Rolando Pacquiao. Kaamulan celebration canceled anew

MALKAYBALAY CITY (Mar. 10) – Bukidnon Gov. Jose Ma. R. Zubiri Jr., for the second time, has canceled the grand Kaamulan celebration this year.

He informed the public about the cancellation of Kaamulan 2021through an advisory he issued on March 4.

He said the Province of Bukidnon, since it was founded in 1914, has always been celebrating Kaamulan. And this momentous gathering has become part of our tradition done annually to showcase the diverse and vibrant culture of Bukidnon.

“Unfortunately, since the covid-19 pandemic began and with the President’s declaration of State of Calamity in the entire country, the Province of Bukidnon has been placed under Community Quarantine. Following the guidelines set by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), all forms of the gathering are strongly discouraged. The holding of Kaamulan was canceled last year 2020 to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the province, with hopes that the threat brought about by this will end soonest possible,” the Governor said in his advisory.

He said, “most of us are looking forward to celebrating Kaamulan this year; however, as much as I wanted to push this grand celebration, the public health and safety of the people has always been my topmost priority. This virus is no joke, and we have to take it seriously.”

On March 9, Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) member Datu Lorenzo L. Dinlayan Jr., chairperson of Provincial Consultative Body (PCB), said he had supported the decision of the Governor.

He said the decision of Gov. Zubiri aims for the protection of the Indigenous People’s community and the people in Bukidnon in general from the virus.

Meanwhile, Datu Richard D. Macas, Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR) to the SP on March 10, said, Kaamulan being a crowd-drawing event, must be on hold considering that we are still experiencing the pandemic brought by Covid-19.

“Though vaccines are coming, but strict health protocols are still implemented to prevent the spread of the virus. The cancellation is for the good of all local residents in the province and visitors. Hopefully, it will be pushed through next year or after 70 to 80 percent of the people will be vaccinated,” Macas said.

Kaamulan is an ethnic, cultural festival held annually in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.

Kaamulan comes from the Binukid word “amul,” meaning to gather. It is a gathering for a purpose such as datuship ritual, a wedding ceremony, a thanksgiving festival during harvest time, a peace pact, or all of these together.

It is held to celebrate the culture and tradition of the seven ethnic tribal groups of the province comprising Bukidnon, Higaonon, Talaandig, Manobo, Matigsalug, Tigwahanon, and Umayamnon.
