DA-10 launches upland hybrid rice demo farm in Bukidnon

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – To further boost Northern Mindanao’s rice production capacity, the Department of Agriculture – Region 10 (DA-10) through Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado formally launched its first hybrid upland rice production technology demonstration farm in Bukidnon province

Together with the Bukidnon Tagoloanon Mulahay Ha Kabukalagan Agriculture Cooperative (BUKTAMACO), Bukidnon Provincial Agriculture Office, Malaybalay City Agriculture Office, and Seedwork Philippines, DA-10 recently held its inaugural planting of the three-hectare upland rice production technology trial demo farm in barangays Sumpong and Can-ayan, in Malaybalay City. 

 

The project is designed to undergo a trial phase before full-scale implementation of the eyed 300-hectare demonstration farm, to give way for production technology fine-tuning and area compatibility assessment. 

 

In her message, DA-10 Regional Technical Director for Research and Regulations, Cora A. Dumayaca said the project is pivotal to the DA’s goal to increase the region’s rice sufficiency by utilizing upland production areas. 

 

Using an area modeling approach, the project will optimize the potential and opportunities in developing the Ancestral Domains of Indigenous Peoples (IPs) as an upland rice production area in the region. 

 

DA-10 Deputy Director for Mindanao Inclusive Agriculture Development Project (MIADP), Joel S. Rudinas, said the project provides the base for future agricultural development. 

 

He said by employing an area-based development system, this undertaking can spin out to other commodities in the value chain and integrate other agricultural livelihood activities that can significantly address poverty situations among the IP communities. 

 

Using Seedworks Philippines’ TH-82 hybrid rice production technology, the upland rice demo farm is set to be fully established during the 2024 wet cropping season.

Ang programa nga gipasiugdahan sa pagpanguna sa Provincial Agriculture Office (PAgrO) ang gipahigayon sa Kaamulan Open Theater, Malaybalay City kaniadtong Disyembre 4, 2023.

Gipadayag ni Provincial Governor Rogelio Neil P. Roque ang iyang kalipay nga makita ang kalig-on sa mga awardees sa 2023 PFA nga magpalambo sa sektor sa agrikultura.

Ang Bise Gobernador nga si Clive Quiño mipadangat sab sa pagdayeg sa mga awardees.

Sumala sa kasayoran gikan sa buhatan sa Gobernador, ang tinuig nga programa mao pag-ila sa paningkamot sa mga mag-uuma nga makahatag og inspirasyon sa mga bag-ong tubo nga kabatan-onan nga mobalik sa pag-uma.

Adunay 29 ka mga rice farmers sa Bukidnon ang gibansay sa lowland rice production ubos sa Farmers Field School (FFS)

Gitaho sa LGU Bukidnon nga ang mga mag-uuma mi-gradwar gikan sa ilang pagbansay niadtong Oktubre 17, 2023 sa Barangay Kulasihan, lungsod sa Lantapan, Bukidnon.

Matod sa pahibalo, gipasiugdahan ang pagbansay sa Provincial Agriculture Office (PAgrO), Municipal Agriculture Office sa lungsod sa Lantapan ug Department of Agriculture.

Ang mga mag-uuma gitaho nga gibansay sulod sa 16 ka semana.

Sila gibansay kabahin sa Morphology of Rice Plant, Agro Ecological System Analysis (AESA), Trichogramma application, Natural Farming Technology System (NFTS), ug uban pang teknik sa pagpananom.

Sa laing bahin, gilusad sab niadtong Oktubre 3 ang lowland rice production training sa Barangay Kalabugao, Impasug-ong, Bukidnon.

DA-AMAD 10 agribiz planning workshop refines services delivery in Bukidnon

MALAYBALAY CITY, BUKIDNON — Pushing for synergistic delivery of services in the province, the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-10) through its Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD) staged a planning and coordination workshop for agribusiness coordinators and municipal agriculturists in Bukidnon on October 26 to 27

Representatives from the agriculture offices of 17 towns and two cities in Bukidnon, as well as its provincial agriculture office, were apprised of the agency’s programs, projects, and activities (PPAs) for market information, market linkage and product promotion, agribusiness promotion, and agribusiness development services.

Said offices also presented their respective updates of activities and operational status of agri inputs and infrastructures (food terminals) provided by DA.

According to DA-10 Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado, the planning workshop aims to foster a more efficient coordination with these agriculture offices to better implement the agency’s PPAs at the local level, as well as to provide the necessary support.

In accordance with the said objective, the workshop’s output is a work plan for CY 2024 that guides the localized conduct of PPAs to effectively address the province’s needs and concerns in agribusiness and marketing.

AMAD Assistant Division chief Ferdinand F. Caraballe said that it also puts a premium on the Enhanced Kadiwa Financial Grant Assistance Program, to which he enjoined the participating offices to link with qualified farmers’ cooperatives, associations (FCAs) in their areas and apply for funding assistance.

Likewise, the division urged the agribiz coordinators to relay the knowledge and information shared during the two-day session to their respective local government units, citing its importance in streamlining project implementation, impact assessment and monitoring, and concerns resolution.

Dungan nga kompetisyon ang napahigayon para sa 4H ug RIC. Gilusad sa Provincial Government of Bukidnon (PGB) ang Coffee Production Project alang sa 300 ka small coffee farmers niadtong Oktubre 3, 2023

Base sa pahibalo sa PGB, gipasiugdahan kini sa Provincial Agriculture Office (PAgrO) sa covered court sa Poblacion, Pangantucan, Bukidnon.

Ang 300 ka mag-uuma sa kape nag-gikan sa Barangay New Eden, Barangay Portulin, Barangay Concepcion ug Barangay Mendis sa lungsod sa Pangantucan.

Sila gitumbok nga makadawat sa agricultural ug marine supplies ug uban pa nga ilang magamit sa pagtanum og kape.

Ibansay usab ang maong mga mag-uuma sa insaktong pag-atiman, pagmentinar ug pagproseso sa pagtanom ug kape.

Ang FFS nagtutok sa hybrid yellow corn production, nga gitun-an gikan niadtong Mayo 16 hangtud Setyembre 1, 2023.

4H Club Simultaneous Tree Growing Activity gipahigayon sa Bukidnon

Ang Provincial Government of Bukidnon (PGB) mipahigayon sa pinaka-unang 4H Club Simultaneous Tree Growing Activity niadtong Hunyo 10, 2023

Gipahibalo sa PGB nga ang nahigayon nga aktibidad mao ang 1st batch.

Ang tree growing activity gipangunahan sa Provincial Agriculture Office (PAgrO).

Ang maong kalihukan nagtangag sa tema nga “Build Today, Plant for Tomorrow”.

Nagtinguha kini nga malikayan ang grabeng epekto sa climate change.

Napulo ka mga lungsod ang mi-partisipar sa maong kalihukan nga mao ang lungsod sa Talakag, Manolo Fortich , Sumilao, Malitbog, Impasugong, San Fernando, Cabanglasan, Maramag, Kalilangan ug Kadingilan.

Kinatibuk-ang 528 ka mga seedlings ang natanum sa mga luna nga adunay dakong kakulangon sa tinanom nga kahoy.

Ang mga seedlings naglangkub sa pink trumpets, narra, lawaan, pine trees ug fruit trees.
