DA-10 pours P533-M agri interventions, services to Bukidnon in Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair

MALAYBALAY CITY, BUKIDNON — In consonance with the national government’s efforts to ensure ease of access to government assistance and services in the countryside, the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-10) participated in the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF) on November 11 to 12, 2023 at the Bukidnon State University, in this city

House Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez led the turnover of agricultural interventions and financial support, worth more than P533 million to Bukidnon Governor Rogelio Neil P. Roque and to the farmers and farmers’ cooperatives, and associations (FCAs) in the province during the opening program of the BPSF.
According to DA-10 Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado, the agency’s participation in the BPSF manifests its commitment to empowering farmers in Northern Mindanao by providing support through its programs and services.

Furthermore, he said that the interventions and financial assistance turned over during the BPSF form part of DA’s thrust towards a ‘Masaganang Agrikultura, Maunlad na Ekonomiya, Tungo sa Bagong Pilipinas’.

Said agri-interventions include funding support for the establishment of an INSPIRE swine production facility and a postharvest facility for corn in San Fernando and Dangcagan towns.

The Department also distributed hybrid rice seeds and fertilizers benefitting a total of 14,198 rice farmers, as well as Open Pollinated Variety (OPV) white corn seeds to 200 corn farmers in the province.

Under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund-Rice Farmers’ Financial Assistance program of the Department, a cash assistance of P5K each was also granted to 18,831 rice farmers in the province, tilling land of less than two hectares.

DA also turned over tractors, harvesters, hauling trucks, plastic crates, and other farming equipment and supplies to select FCAs in the province.

Regional winners of the Young Farmers Challenge 2023 were also awarded financial grants of P150K for the Start-Up category and P300K for the Upscale category.

Moreover, services such as the distribution of vegetable seeds through the agency’s High-Value Crops Development Program, as well as the Kadiwa ng Pangulo spearheaded by the DA-Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division, were also offered to walk-in consumers during the two-day fair.

Agri-10 conducts Young Farmers Challenge regional judging for start-ups

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-RFO 10) through the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD), spearheads the regional judging for the Young Farmers Challenge (YFC) for the start-up category at the agency compound here

According to DA-10 Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado, the YFC start-up is a competitive financial grant assistance program for youth who wish to engage in new or start-up agri-fishery enterprises, encouraging such sectors to pursue careers in agriculture.

Some 14 individuals have pitched their business model canvass; 10 have presented for the production category and four for processing.

Of whom were qualified at the regional level competition after being hailed as provincial winners representing Bukidnon, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Oriental, and Misamis Occidental.

Out of the presenters, only seven will be adjudged as winners: three from the processing category while four will be coming from the production category, with one slot added to the latter in the absence of an entry for digital agriculture.

Regional awardees will receive an additional financial grant of P150K on top of their previous grant, amounting to P80K for winning at the provincial level.

Another P300K also awaits those who will move to the national level of the YFC start-up competition.

21st AFC Congress: Tapok Mag-uuma 2023 gipahigayon

Ang City Agriculture Office (CAgO) sa pakigtambayayong sa City Agriculture and Fishery Council (CAFC) nagsaulog sa ika-21 ka tuig sa AFC congress niadtong Oktubre 18, 2023 sa Kaamulan Folk Arts Theatre, Malaybalay City

Ang kalihokan nagdala sa tema “Saka Ta Agri-preneurs.”

Ang tinuig nga kalihokan mihatag og dungog ug pag-ila sa mga paningkamot ug bililhong kontribusyon sa mga mag-uuma sa dakbayan. Mao usab kini ang higayon nga maipakita sa Malaybalay Agri-preneurs ang ilang produkto ug negosyo.

Highlight sa “Tapok Mag-uuma 2023” mao ang presentasyon sa 22 ka mga resolusyon nga i-endorso sa CAFC gipangulohan ni Chairperson Leonard O. Leyros. Lakip sa resolusyon mao ang abaca isip flagship program sa Lokal nga Pangagamhanan ug alang sa paghatag og inputs sa lain-laing ahensya alang sa nasangpit nga tanom.

Giila ang mga kabatan-onan kinsa mao ang 4H Club scholars sa Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) nga sila si: Ms. Careen C. Elloren (BS-Agriculture, CMU), Ms. Jenerose D. Callejas (BS-Agriculture, CMU), ug Mr. John Chris Ramirez (BS-AgEcon, CMU).

Nahimong awardee ang 4H Youth Interns gikan sa Taiwan nga sila si: Mr. Jason Gonzales sa Barangay Linabo ug Mr. Randy Donque sa Barangay Imbayao.

Pasidungog ang naangkon gikan sa atong certified organic farmers nga sila si: Ms. Francis B. Malatamban sa Anpas Farm, Simaya, Ms. Everly G. Ampalaya sa Green Wonder Farm, Sinanglanan, ug Mr. Reynaldo Gil G. Lomarda sa Umanika Farm, Barangay 10.

Dungan nga kompetisyon ang napahigayon para sa 4H ug RIC. Ang 4H winners mao sila si Mr. Khiersten Abyin Calderon sa Barangay Bangcud alang sa Poster Making Contest, Mr. Greggy Amarga sa Barangay Bangcud alang sa Dish Gardening, ug Dalwangan National High School alang sa Mini Blog. DA grants certificate of accreditation to 5 NorMin’s FCAs

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-RFO 10), helmed by Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado, grants the certificate of accreditation to five Farmers’ Cooperatives, Associations (FCAs) across Northern Mindanao during the opening of the World Food Day celebration cum Young Farmers Challenge awarding on October 16

The FCAs granted with accreditation are Bliss Lingion Multi-Purpose Cooperative and Mantibugao Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Farmers’ Cooperative of Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon; Kabangasan Mapua Dahilig Agrarian Reform Community Cooperative of Balingoan, Misamis Oriental; Canitoan Multi-Purpose Cooperative of CdeO City; and Miarayon Highland Farmers’ Association of Talakag, Bukidnon.

Per DA Administrative Circular No. 3, Series of 2022, FCAs have complied and passed the requirements set forth by the agri department as beneficiary or implementing Civil Society Organizations (CSO) for the further development of the agri-fishery sector.

During the course of the evaluation, the validation team considered an applicant’s presence in its stated address and area of operation; with identified membership and leadership and organizational structure; in good standing with all government agencies from which they have received public funds with emphasis on not incurring default or delay in the liquidation of such; and they must have proven track record of performance and good standing in undertaking civil society works, among others.

“It is important to recognize these organizations to encourage people’s participation in agricultural development and for them to be given priority in receiving interventions from DA,” DA-10 Regional Technical Committee Chairperson for Accreditation of CSOs and Regional Technical Director for Operations Carlota S. DA-10 awards YFC Upscale regional winners

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – After the business pitching and thorough evaluation of the entries for the Young Farmers Challenge (YFC) Upscale, the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10, through the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division, declared the top three winners for Northern Mindanao

These include Erbyl Kent C. Pelongco from Valencia City, Bukidnon with his 7K’s Food Products agri-enterprise which focuses on banana chips processing; Maydene V. Demesana from CdeO City with her diversified farm producing various high-valued vegetables; and Johnny Ray G. Salinana from Kadingilan, Bukidnon with his agri-enterprise called Bahalinana which processes coconut vinegar, among others.

Each winner will receive a P300K grant which will be used for their respective businesses’ expansion and enhancement.

Pelongco, who garnered the highest score with an average of 96.07% and will represent Region 10 in the National YFC Upscale, is grateful for the result of the challenge.

“I am very thankful for this grant because we are planning to do major renovations in our processing area for us to be accredited by the Food and Drugs Administration. When that happens, more opportunities will surely open for 7K’s Food Products, more job opportunities for our community.” Pelongco said.

Meanwhile, DA-10 Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado congratulated the winners of the challenge and thanked them for grabbing the opportunity for the improvement of their ventures.

“You are lucky that nowadays, grants like this are offered by DA. You just need to have the determination, passion, and patience to face all the challenges for your business to be successful. I hope that with the grant given, this will help you in your respective ventures,” Dir. Collado added.

YFC Upscale is a head-to-head competition of the previous YFC awardees from 2021-2022, which aims to improve and expand their current business operations, including upgrading equipment and assets, creating new product lines, and improving marketing efforts, among others.

Agri-10 extends mentoring assistance to 2023 Young Farmers Challenge Upscale applicants

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-10) through its Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD) conducted its mentoring and coaching for applicants of the Young Farmers Challenge (YFC) 2023 Upscale Competition on September 13 to 15

Facilitated by the division’s Agribusiness Promotion Section, two agri-fishery enterprises from barangays San Simon and Pagatpat in CdeO City, and three from the municipalities of Impasugong, Kadingilan, and Valencia City in Bukidnon, received mentorship on enterprise implementation and the optimization of resources in response to growing market demands.

DA-10 Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado said that through the mentoring assistance, the Department works closely with agri-fishery enterprises to build on their existing goals and objectives, and innovate their products and services, aligned with the rationale of the program.

Said enterprises also received suggestions on the necessary refinements to their business plan and pitch deck before the YFC competition proper slated later this year.

The YFC-Upscale Program is an initiative of DA for previous YFC awardees which aims to upscale the operations of their existing agri-fishery enterprise, invest in new technology for product development, and generate employment through the provision of additional capital in the form of competitive financial grant assistance.
