CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (January 12, 2026, 7:55 pm) – Bukidnon will continue advancing its coffee industry as a primary economic driver in 2026, with officials aiming to establish the province as the country’s Arabica capital

A 10-year plan targets expanding Arabica coffee plantations to over 10,000 hectares by 2035.

The Bukidnon Coffee Roadmap is a central part of the provincial agenda for livelihood expansion and sustainable growth, Governor Rogelio Neil Roque said Monday. “The roadmap is not just a document. It is a path toward livelihood expansion, farmer empowerment, international recognition, and sustainable economic growth,” Roque said during a convocation speech.

The roadmap focuses on strengthening farmer support through technical assistance. Improving bean quality via specialized training and the construction of post-harvest facilities. Boosting market access to increase farmer income and build a globally competitive industry.

Under the plan, Bukidnon aims to become the leading producer of high-value Arabica coffee through structured development and value-adding processes, such as roasting and grinding locally. (Nef Luczon/PNA)
