Bukidnon hosts amnesty filing for ex-reds

MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon — A mass filing of amnesty applications for former members of the New People’s Army (NPA) was conducted on March 5, 2026, at Tambayong Hall, 403rd Brigade Headquarters, Camp Osito D. Bahian, in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, as part of the government’s continuing efforts to promote peace and reintegration

In a press statement, the military said the activity, themed “Renewing Lives, Rebuilding Futures,” was led by the 88th Infantry Battalion in coordination with the 403rd Infantry Brigade, Philippine Army. It was held in partnership with the Local Amnesty Board – Cagayan de Oro, the Bukidnon Provincial Legal Office, and the Public Attorney’s Office in Malaybalay.

The amnesty applications were filed by former rebels who surrendered through the 88th, 89th, and 8th Infantry Battalions, giving them an opportunity to clear pending charges and rebuild their lives.

Participants also received various forms of assistance to support their reintegration, including cash aid, food packs, and other essential services from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 10, the Bukidnon Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA–PhilSys) Malaybalay, and Dole Philippines Inc.–Stanfilco Division.

Local government leaders also expressed support for the initiative, including Bukidnon Governor Rogelio Neil P. Roque; Bukidnon 2nd District Rep. John Flores; and mayors Rogelio Yeke of San Fernando, Pablo Lorenzo of Quezon, Amie Galario of Valencia City, Bernie Castillanes of Cabanglasan, Jay Warren Pabillaran of Malaybalay City, and Mai Okinlay of Impasugong.

Through the government’s amnesty program, former rebels are given the opportunity to rebuild their lives, reunite with their families, and contribute positively to their communities while strengthening peace and development in Bukidnon. (melbmadera)
