MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon – A joint team of government authorities, operating under the Joint Law Enforcement Support Operation (LESO), successfully raided an illegal marijuana plantation in Sitio Catablaran, Barangay Cananga-an, Cabanglasan, Bukidnon on February 28, 2026

During the operation, approximately 1,000 hills of fully grown marijuana plants were uprooted and burned on-site to prevent further propagation.

Selected samples were also collected and transported to the Bukidnon Provincial Forensic Unit in Malaybalay City for laboratory analysis, which will aid in the documentation and possible prosecution of those responsible.

According to the Provincial Government of Bukidnon, the marijuana plantation covered an estimated 500-square-meter land area and is valued at around ₱250,000.

The joint law enforcement team consisted of personnel from the 8th Infantry Battalion, 1st Special Forces Battalion, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Office, and the Bukidnon Police Provincial Office, working in coordination with the Philippine Anti-Organized Crime Commission.

Authorities said the eradication is part of a sustained crackdown on illegal drug cultivation in remote areas of Bukidnon.

Officials urged the public to continue reporting suspicious activities in far-flung communities to help prevent the spread of illegal substances and maintain peace and order in the province. (melbmadera)
