MARAMAG, Bukidnon – A significant step toward strengthening community-based economic
development was marked as eighteen People’s Organizations (POs) in the Municipality of San
Fernando received a combined ₱6.14 million in Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) grants
from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) during a ceremonial turnover
held on 23 July 2026 at the Barangay Halapitan Tourism Eco Park

The 89th Infantry Battalion in a statement said the financial assistance will fund various
community-driven, income-generating projects designed to enhance the economic resilience of
the organizations while creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for their members.
Among the recipients were Mahayag Farmers EO70 SLPA and KAMIFA EO70 SLPA, each
awarded ₱300,000 to strengthen their respective livelihood enterprises. Both organizations were
organized and nurtured by the Philippine Army’s Alpha Company under the leadership of 2Lt.
Mamer C. Oliverio, officer-in-charge, through the implementation of Executive Order No. 70,
also known as the Whole-of-Nation Approach.
In a move that reinforces accountability and sound financial management, three additional POs
organized by Alpha Company also opened their bank accounts immediately following the
turnover ceremony, ensuring the transparent and efficient utilization of the livelihood grants.
The event was led by San Fernando Municipal Mayor Rogelio C. Yeke, with the participation of
Barangay Little Baguio Punong Barangay Taciano P. Castro, PDAO Designate Engr. Vinsil B.
Mouring, and representatives from MCCC Bank, including Account Officer Andy Jones V.
Turno and Bank Manager Arlyn Evangelista.
The turnover ceremony underscored the enduring partnership among the DSWD, the Local
Government Unit of San Fernando, the Philippine Army, financial institutions, and local People’s
Organizations in fostering inclusive economic growth and empowering communities through
sustainable livelihood initiatives.

More than the distribution of financial assistance, the activity symbolized the government’s
continuing commitment to grassroots development. Through the Whole-of-Nation Approach,
government agencies and community stakeholders remain united in helping local organizations
build lasting sources of income, strengthen self-reliance, and promote inclusive and sustainable
