MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon – Sixty-three (63) former members of the New People’s Army (NPA) received cash assistance and food packs to support their initial reintegration, while 150 others formally applied for amnesty, the military reported

The ceremony took place during the “PAGBALIK LOOB: Presentation of Former Rebels with Government Amnesty” held at the Municipal Gymnasium in Barangay Halapitan, San Fernando, Bukidnon on February 28, 2026.

The 1003rd Infantry (Raptor) Brigade, under the leadership of Brigadier General Christopher M. Diaz, spearheaded the event, conducted alongside the 89th Infantry (Makatao) Battalion and 60th Infantry (Mediator) Battalion in close coordination with the Local Government Unit of San Fernando, the office of the Congressman for Bukidnon’s 2nd District, and other partner agencies.

The activity highlighted the government’s strengthened peace and reintegration efforts under the National Amnesty Program and the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP). It featured the formal presentation of former rebels, testimonies from selected returnees, and an orientation on the amnesty process led by representatives of the National Amnesty Commission.

Atty. Jonathan Keith T. Flores, representative of Bukidnon’s 2nd District, served as Guest of Honor and Speaker and administered the Oath of Surrender to the returning rebels.

The strong presence of military and civilian leaders underscored the whole-of-nation approach in sustaining peace efforts and providing former rebels with opportunities to rebuild their lives.

In his message, BGen. Diaz emphasized that the 1003rd Infantry (Raptor) Brigade, together with the 89th and 60th Infantry Battalions, remains committed to maintaining peace within its area of responsibility.

He added, “Genuine peace is achieved not only through security operations but also through unity, compassion, and collaborative governance.” He assured the public that the brigade and its battalions will continue to work closely with local government units and stakeholders to provide former rebels with meaningful opportunities, ensuring a secure and development-ready Bukidnon for all.
