MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon — The 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division of the Philippine Army
has further strengthened its community-based security force with the addition of 110 newly
trained Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) Active Auxiliaries (CAAs).
In a press release, the 4ID said the new CAAs completed the CAA-I Basic Military Training
during a closing ceremony held at the 4th Division Training School in Malaybalay City,
Bukidnon, on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.
The newly trained auxiliaries are expected to serve as force multipliers for regular Army units in
securing vital installations, providing local information and supporting law enforcement
operations within the 4ID’s area of responsibility covering Northern Mindanao and the Caraga
region.
The training equipped the CAAs with basic military knowledge, skills and discipline, while
strengthening their capacity to contribute to community security through their familiarity with
local terrain and communities.
Major General Marion T. Angcao, 4ID commander and keynote speaker during the closing
ceremony, described the CAAs as important community-based frontliners whose local
knowledge and experience complement the capabilities of regular Army forces.
“As frontliners, you are one of the most important forces of our Armed Forces. Because of your
experience, knowledge of the area, and courage, you make a significant contribution to
protecting our communities,” Angcao said.
He also referred to the CAAs as the Army’s “lead scouts,” noting that their close ties to local
communities place them among the first to detect developments on the ground and help guide
regular forces toward an appropriate and safe response.
“You are our lead scouts—the first to see, the first to recognize the situation, and the first to
guide our forces toward the right and safe direction,” Angcao said, expressing the Army’s
appreciation for the auxiliaries’ contribution to community security.
The completion of the training marks another step in 4ID’s efforts to enhance its community-
based security network and strengthen coordination with local communities and partner law
enforcement agencies across its area of responsibility. (melbmadera)
