MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon – Strengthening its thrust toward agricultural sustainability and rural development in Northern Mindanao, the Department of Agriculture–Regional Field Office 10 (DA-10) has turned over ₱278.1 million worth of agricultural interventions to the Salvacion Multipurpose Cooperative (SMC), the Provincial Government of Bukidnon (PLGU), and the City Government of Malaybalay
The turnover ceremony was held on September 9 during the DA’s National Information Caravan.
Under the Corn Program, the SMC of Kadingilan, Bukidnon, received a hauling truck worth ₱2.625 million to support its post-harvest operations.
In a Facebook post, DA-10 reported that the Bukidnon PLGU was awarded a certificate of commitment for 32,587 bags of hybrid rice seeds worth ₱156 million, 65,740 bags of inorganic fertilizer valued at ₱82 million, and 52,419 packs of biofertilizers amounting to ₱38 million through the Rice Program.
Meanwhile, under the High Value Crops Development Program, the Malaybalay CLGU received a certificate of commitment for the Gulayan sa Bayan package worth ₱100,000 to enhance its food security and gardening initiatives.
Through these interventions, DA-10 aims to modernize and industrialize the region’s agricultural value chain, boost farmers’ productivity, and create livelihood opportunities while promoting a sustainable food system.
Tarsila H. Bunayog, SMC Manager, acknowledged the impact of DA’s consistent and transformative support to their cooperative.
“From post-harvest facilities, tractors, and harvesters, to this hauling truck—these interventions greatly benefit not only our members but also the wider community of Kadingilan,” Bunayog said.
For his part, Vic Ian T. Alcontin, head of field operations at the Malaybalay City Agriculture Office, noted that the Gulayan ng Bayan package complements the city’s existing backyard gardening projects.
“We thank the DA for its support. This ensures the continuity of our efforts to provide food security and livelihood opportunities for our farmers and households,” Alcontin said.
This initiative forms part of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s all-inclusive plan for economic and social transformation, which focuses on empowering farmers, strengthening agricultural enterprises, and sustaining resilient food systems nationwide. (melbmadera)
