MANOLO FORTICH, Bukidnon — A government communications training facility in Northern
Mindanao is set to provide space for skills development, media production, and other
communication activities following its turnover to the Presidential Communications Office
(PCO) on Aug. 11.
The Government Communications Academy (GCA), located at Northern Bukidnon State
College (NBSC) in Manolo Fortich, was turned over by the Department of Public Works and
Highways Northern Mindanao (DPWH-10) during a ceremony attended by government officials
and other stakeholders.
The two-story facility with a roof deck has a total floor area of 2,093 square meters and a
building footprint of 1,236.87 square meters. It was designed to accommodate government
information and communication activities, media and broadcasting, training, administration, and
other communication-related programs.
PCO Assistant Secretary Ronadale Zapanta said the facility will be used to develop
communication skills and support public service, particularly among young people.
“This facility, the GCA, will not simply stand as another government building, but will be put to
meaningful and lasting public use,” Zapanta said.
She said the academy represents an investment in people, particularly Filipino youth who may
use the facility to develop their communication skills and explore opportunities to serve their
communities and the country.
“May it pave the way for the youth to discover their voices, develop their knowledge and skills,
and find opportunities to serve their communities and our country,” she said.
With the facility completed and turned over, Zapanta said stakeholders share responsibility for
protecting and maintaining it and ensuring that public resources invested in the project produce
measurable benefits.
She urged stakeholders to maximize the facility and work together to address communication,
training, and learning needs.
“May this academy serve the Filipino youth well and help them prepare to be the new generation
of informed, capable, and service-oriented citizens,” she said. (Jan Albert K. Arańa/PIA-10)
