IMPASUGONG, Bukidnon – In a bid to strengthen the local swine industry and safeguard against African Swine Fever (ASF), the Department of Agriculture–Region 10 (DA-10), through its Livestock Program, partnered with the local government unit of Impasugong for the groundbreaking of a biosecured swine breeder facility on September 23

Funded under the Integrated National Swine Production Initiatives for Recovery and Expansion (INSPIRE) program, the ₱10-million project features a 30-sow-capacity biosecured facility, along with swine breeder gilts, veterinary supplies, and semen for breeding—a comprehensive package designed to ensure healthy and sustainable swine production.

Impasugong Mayor Jetaime A. Okinlay-Gumban expressed heartfelt appreciation for the intervention, emphasizing the community’s commitment to remaining ASF-free.

“We don’t have any cases of ASF in our municipality, and we hope to keep it that way. That is why we are thankful to DA-10 for providing this INSPIRE intervention,” she said.

DA-10 Regional Technical Director Carlota S. Madriaga also lauded the LGU’s dedication to securing the project, noting that such initiatives will not only protect the municipality’s swine industry but also empower local farmers and support their livelihoods.

Launched in 2021, the INSPIRE program aims to revive and fortify the country’s swine sector following the ASF outbreak, restoring production capacity and ensuring a stable supply of hogs and pork nationwide. (CRS/melbmadera)
