Fire guts public-school building in Maramag

MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon – A fire swept through a one-story educational building at Maramag Central Elementary School, located in Purok 5A, North Poblacion, Maramag, Bukidnon, leaving significant damage in its wake

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)–Maramag swiftly responded to the incident after a concerned citizen reported the blaze at around 11:45 p.m. on October 1, 2025.

 

Firefighters arrived promptly to contain the fire and prevent its spread to nearby structures.

 

Police Lt. Col. Alexander E. Eugenio, chief of the Maramag Municipal Police Station (MMPS), confirmed that, fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries reported.

 

An initial assessment by BFP–Maramag estimates the damage at approximately ₱288,000, affecting a 192-square-meter building.

 

Investigators from the BFP continue to probe the cause of the fire.

 

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of fire safety, vigilance, and community reporting in safeguarding public spaces and educational facilities. (melbmadera)
