MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon — Personnel of the 1003rd Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 10 (RMFB10), in coordination with several police units, intercepted an estimated PhP 3.4 million worth of alleged smuggled cigarettes during an intensified checkpoint operation at the Regional Border Control Point in Barangay Omonay, Damulog, Bukidnon on January 13, 2026
According to a press release, authorities flagged down two vehicles driven by alias “Jojo,” 31, married, of Quezon, Bukidnon, and alias “Rez,” 22, single, of San Isidro, General Santos City. Lawful inspection revealed several master cases of suspected smuggled cigarettes in plain view inside the vehicles, which lacked the required government health warning labels, in violation of existing laws.
During the operation, a third vehicle breached the checkpoint and fled, prompting a hot pursuit by operating units. The vehicle was later found abandoned in front of the Damulog Public Bus Terminal in Barangay Poblacion, Damulog, and was identified by the two apprehended drivers as belonging to their companion. Authorities discovered suspected smuggled cigarettes inside the vehicle, with the key still inserted in the ignition.
Seized items included 80 master cases and 361 reams of Red Seven Kings cigarettes with an estimated market value of PhP 3,488,800.00, along with three vehicles. The suspects, seized cigarettes, and vehicles were turned over to the Bureau of Customs–Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental for proper disposition in accordance with existing laws.(melbmadera)
