MANOLO FORTICH, Bukidnon – Member-Consumer-Owners (MCOs) of the Bukidnon Second Electric Cooperative (BUSECO) have approved the long-awaited division of its largest service area, the Malaybalay District, into two separate districts to ensure fairer representation and improved service for its growing membership

The decision was sealed during the 41st Annual General Membership Assembly (AGMA) on July 26, 2025—an event held simultaneously across 173 barangay sites and anchored at the Father Francisco G. Silva and BUSECO Partners and Associates RQIM Hall in the cooperative’s main office in Manolo Fortich.

AGMA Resolution No. 2025-05 ratifies Board of Directors (BOD) Resolution No. 25-07-09, passed on July 14, 2023, formally approving the creation of Malaybalay District 1 and Malaybalay District 2.

Malaybalay District 1 will cover 24 barangays: Barangays 1 to 11, Sumpong, Casisang, San Jose, Magsaysay, Mapayag, Imbayao, Capitan Angel, Kalasungay, Patpat, Dalwangan, Manalog, Kibalabag, and Can-ayan.

Malaybalay District 2 will include 22 barangays: Silae, Mapulo, Caburacanan, Busdi, Indalasa, Zamboanguita, St. Peter, Kulaman, Violeta, Linabo, Maligaya, Apo Macote, Managok, Miglamin, Simaya, Sto. Niño, San Martin, Sinanglanan, Bangcud, Cabangahan, Aglayan, and Laguitas.

As of May 2023, Malaybalay District had 46 barangays with a total of 51,151 connections but was represented by only one BOD member. With the redistricting, BUSECO aims to provide equitable representation to MCOs while addressing the operational challenges posed by the district’s size and continuous growth.

“The redistricting ensures that our member-consumer-owners are fairly represented and that services are delivered more efficiently,” BUSECO management said, emphasizing that the move was made upon the recommendation of both the board and management in response to the district’s increasing demands.
