MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon – The city government of Malaybalay has earmarked over ₱4.44 million in financial assistance for 657 farmers and fisherfolk from seven barangays in the Basakan District who suffered losses due to flooding on June 26, 2025

City Agriculturist Richard B. Leono confirmed the allocation during the Kapihan Media Forum held on July 31, 2025, at Buzzstop Eatery and Catering Services, in front of the City Hall in Barangay Casisang. The forum was part of the city’s activities for National Disaster Resilience Month 2025.

According to Leono, the ₱4,444,347 fund is set for disbursement on August 8, 2025, at Barangay Violeta. Under the aid package, rice, corn, and high-value crops farmers will each receive ₱5,000 per hectare, while fisherfolk will be granted ₱12 per square meter.

The assistance comes after the Sangguniang Panlungsod declared a state of calamity in the seven affected barangays: Apo Macote, Sinanglanan, San Martin, Simaya, Sto. Niño, Managok, and Violeta. This declaration enabled the release of emergency funds to help residents recover from the disaster’s impact.

Leono emphasized that the aid is part of the local government’s ongoing commitment to support the agricultural and fisheries sectors in times of crisis, ensuring that affected residents can resume their livelihoods as quickly as possible. (melbmadera)
