MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon – A senior citizen couple met a gruesome end after they were brutally hacked to death inside their home in Purok 7, Brgy. Kaatuan, Lantapan, Bukidnon

Police Captain Vernie S. Corpuz, officer-in-charge of the Lantapan Municipal Police Station (LMPS), reported that the grisly discovery was made at around 9:45 a.m. on August 5, 2025.

The 66-year-old male victim bore multiple hack wounds—one at the back of his neck, two on his stomach, and injuries to his left knee and left hand. His 68-year-old live-in partner also sustained severe hack wounds to her back and stomach.

Initial investigation indicated that while the couple was asleep, the suspect or suspects allegedly broke into their home, attacked them with a bladed weapon, and quickly fled in an unknown direction.

At the crime scene, authorities recovered a bolo measuring approximately 30 inches, including its handle.

The LMPS continues to investigate the brutal killing to establish the motive and identify the perpetrator or perpetrators. The Bukidnon Provincial Forensic Unit has been tapped to process the crime scene. (melbmadera)
