VALENCIA CITY, Bukidnon — The development of the Bukidnon Airport is being seen as a
major opportunity to expand tourism, business and market access in the province, with improved
air connectivity expected to open new doors for trade and investment

During a multi-stakeholders forum in Valencia City on August 19, the provincial government,
led by Governor Rogelio Oneil P. Roque, brought together representatives from national
government agencies, local government units (LGUs) and the private sector to discuss plans,
proposals and possible interventions to support the airport project.
The forum underscored the growing expectation that the airport could become more than just a
gateway for passengers. Stakeholders see it as a potential economic engine that could bring
Bukidnon’s agricultural products closer to larger markets, make travel to the province more
accessible and create new opportunities for local enterprises.
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Civil
Aviation Authority of the Philippines o CAAP highlighted the importance of stronger air links in
connecting Bukidnon’s producers to markets beyond the province. Better connectivity could help
shorten travel time for people and goods while providing businesses with greater access to
customers, suppliers and potential investors.
For the tourism sector, improved air access could also make Bukidnon more attractive to visitors
looking to explore its mountains, farms, waterfalls and other natural and cultural destinations.
Beyond tourism and trade, stakeholders said the airport could generate wider economic
opportunities, from employment and transport services to hospitality, retail and other businesses
that typically grow around improved connectivity and increased movement of people.
The provincial government, national agencies, LGUs and private-sector groups are expected to
continue working together to address the requirements of the airport project and maximize its
potential benefits to the province.
Stakeholders emphasized that sustained coordination will be crucial as Bukidnon positions itself
for greater economic activity. With the right infrastructure and supporting investments, the
airport could serve as a bridge between the province’s producers and outside markets while
bringing more visitors, businesses and opportunities closer to its communities.

The envisioned Bukidnon Airport is thus being positioned not simply as an infrastructure project,
but as a catalyst for jobs, enterprise, tourism and long-term economic growth in the province.
