CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (March 9, 2026) — The Regional Development Council of Northern Mindanao Infrastructure and Utilities Development Committee (RDC-X InfraCom) endorsed a P184.87-billion budget for 2027 to accelerate regional connectivity and modernize public utilities

The endorsement, finalized during a first-quarter meeting on February 25, covers priority programs for Northern Mindanao’s 10 infrastructure agencies, such as the Philippine Coast Guard, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, Department of Information and Communications Technology, Department of Transportation, Department of Public Works and Highways, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, Land Transportation Office, Maritime Industry Authority, National Irrigation Administration, and National Telecommunications Commission.

To ensure high-impact spending, the InfraCom Secretariat now requires early feedback on project readiness, specifically permits and clearances, to prevent fragmented investments.

Committee members also reviewed the Interim 2025 Regional Development Report to align new projects with actual progress in expanding and upgrading provincial infrastructure.

Energy updates highlighted the planned retirement of a 210-megawatt coal-fired power plant under the Asian Development Bank’s Energy Transition Mechanism, as well as updates from the Department of Energy on benefit rationalization for host communities and the utilization of ER 1-94 funds.

Aviation remains a priority as Laguindingan Airport advances toward international status, while Bukidnon Airport nears completion for commercial flights.

By reaffirming a national order to strengthen farm-to-market road networks, the committee directly links rural producers to larger markets and underscores Northern Mindanao’s commitment to accelerating infrastructure growth, sustainable energy, and regional connectivity. (DEPDev-10/PIA-10)
