CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (September 26, 2025, 7:04 p.m.) – The Northern Mindanao Region reported zero casualties or major damage on Friday after the passing of Severe Tropical Storm Opong

While the local governments of Talisayan and Gingoog City in Misamis Oriental suspended classes, no injuries were reported amid morning winds and rain.

In this city, a damaged vehicle caused by a falling tree branch was recorded, while the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (CDRRMD) still has its rescuers on alert, even though the storm is forecast to exit the Philippine territory on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Department of Public Works and Highways–Northern Mindanao (DPWH-10) instructed all its district offices, including those in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, to remain on full alert.

“DPWH-10 activated its Emergency Operations Center, disaster teams, and duty officers, with maintenance crews and heavy equipment prepositioned in strategic areas for clearing operations,” the agency said in a statement.

The agency said about 159 quick response asset equipment have been staged across the region to ensure immediate mobilization when needed. (Nef Luczon/PNA)
