Nihatag ang National Council of Disability Affairs (NCDA) og tagsa ka desktop computers sa 20 ka lungsod ug duha ka syudad sa Probinsya sa Bukidnon

Base sa pahibalo sa DILG Bukidnon, ang mga unit gidawat sa mga City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) ug Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) Persons with Disability Officers ug Focal Persons, pinaagi sa PGO-Persons with Disability Affairs Division (PDAD), niadtong Marso 14, 2023 sa Loiza’s Pavilion sa Barangay Casisang, ning syudad.

Ang mga desktop computers paga gamiton alang sa data gathering ug pagparehistro sa mga PWDs ngadto sa Philippines Registry of Persons with Disability nga gidumala sa Department of Health, aron mapadali ang pagpanghatag sa benipisyo ug mahibaluan kung pila ang PWD members sa matag lungsod ug syudad sa Bukidnon ug sa tibuok nasud. CHO celebrates Rabies Awareness Month; Malaybalay records zero case of human rabies in 2022

Rabies is one of the deadly diseases and considered one of the public health concerns

As part of the health promotion and advocacy of the Rabies Prevention Control Program of the Center for Health and Development – Northern Mindanao in coordination with Bukidnon Provincial Health Office and Malaybalay City Health Office (CHO), a Rabies Awareness Caravan was conducted on March 16, 2023, at Loiza’s Pavilion, Casisang, Malaybalay City.

This activity aims to increase awareness about rabies infection, prevention, control, and elimination.

The said event started with a motorcade from City Health Office to Capitol then Loizas Pavilion where a forum was held.

A total of 145 participants attended the launching each represented by Barangay Kapitan, Kagawad on Health, Chief BPSO, Midwife, and BHW president from all Poblacion 1, selected Poblacion 2, and Highway District Barangays.

Provincial Health Office II, Dr. Gary Guido C. Tabios, Jr., welcomed the guests and participants. Then followed by an inspirational message from Dr. Vincent C. Raguro, MPH (Provincial Department of Health Office Bukidnon – Development Management Officer V).

With the theme “Rabies- Free na Pusa’t Aso, Kaligtasan ng Pamilyang Pilipino”, speaker Ms. Jenny Alabado, RMT, Regional Rabies Coordinator stressed that “Rabies is a horrific way to die. Once symptoms show, it is 99.9% fatal. However, it is 100% preventable.”

Meanwhile, speaker Dr. Enrique Miguel Degamo, MPH, MO III, added that Dogs are primarily responsible for rabies virus transmission to humans.

Among the topics tackled, Dr. Mary Ann S. Valdez, Veterinarian IV, Malaybalay City Veterinary Office also discussed about RA 9482, or Anti- Rabies Act of 2007, prescribing penalties for pet owners violating this act.

Provincial Health Office Rabies Prevention and Control Program Coordinator, Mr. Carlo C. Calleja, have reported Rabies Case Status of Bukidnon and Malaybalay City has Zero case of Human Rabies for year 2022.

The activity was facilitated by the City Health Office Rabies Team, Dr. Susan Marie S. PunongBayan, Nurse Coordinator Maila A. Manuel, Assitant Nurse Coordinator Frances Charmaine Lazalita, Marlyn Bagonoc, staffs Noel Michael Mutya, Daphne Castillo with the help of the National Health Worker Support System – Nurse Deployment Program of the Department of Health.

Further, Dr. Susan Punongbayan reminded us about ONE Health approach that helps protect the health of all living beings and imparted a closing phrase “Kagat Aso, Patay Tao.”

In addition, the City Health Office – Rabies Prevention and Control Program continues to provide services through the presence of our Animal Bite Center which is open every Monday and Thursday at the CHO, and via information dissemination by doing lectures and distribution of leaflets with the help of the Midwives, Human Resource for Health and Community Volunteer Health Workers in the Barangays.

Malaybalay City Veterinary Office also assisted during the activity to provide free Dog vaccination. (PR)

Super Health Center to rise in Pangantucan

PANGANTUCAN, Bukidnon – Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go led the groundbreaking ceremony for the Super Health Center facility in far-off barangay Bacusanon, Pangantucan, Bukidnon, on March 3

Go said the center would provide vital health services with specialized health facilities at the local level, such as an outpatient department, laboratory, X-ray, ultrasound, birthing services, diagnostics, pharmacy, and emergency services.
Asked about the distinction between Malasakit Center and Super Health Center, the Senator explained that the Super Health Center is a medium-sized polyclinic larger than a rural health center but not as big as a hospital.
“I express great bliss that the Department of Health (DOH) chose a strategic location here in town. The government will build additional 20 Super Health Centers in Northern Mindanao this year, with six in Bukidnon, four in Cagayan de Oro, three in Lanao del Norte, two in Misamis Occidental, and five in Misamis Oriental,” Go said.
DOH-10 Regional Director Jose R. Llacuna Jr. emphasized that establishing a Super Health Facility would help decongest other health facilities, as it will supplement rural health centers in the province.
“The goal is to bring government services closer to the people,” he said.
Fourth District Representative Laarni Roque thanked Senator Go for building projects in her district. She said that the Super Health Center would immensely help the people of Barangay Bacusanon, which does not have a government hospital.
Meanwhile, Pangantucan Mayor Miguel A. Silva Jr. urged his constituents to take good care of the government projects.
“Not all cities or towns are fortunate enough to receive such facility. I urge our villagers here to take good care of this Super Health Center,” the mayor said. (BGE/PIA-10/Bukidnon)

Teenage pregnancy declines in PH, Normin tops in cases

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Teenage pregnancy cases in the country had gone down from 8.6 percent in 2017 to 5.4 percent in 2022, yet despite the decrease in cases, Northern Mindanao records the highest percentage of adolescents who have been pregnant at 10.9 percent

“Forty-four per 1,000 female adolescents aged 15–19 have given birth in 2020, which means approximately 30 adolescents give birth in the region daily,” Commission on Population (POPCOM)-10 Assistant Regional Director Richmond Charles Gajudo said.

According to data from 2020, the three provinces with the highest rates of teen pregnancy are Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental, and Cagayan de Oro City. Each of these three provinces is responsible for 43% of all births to teenagers. The youngest age at which a teen was known to be pregnant was 11 years old in Cagayan de Oro City. In Valencia City, the young mother was 12 years old.

Being pregnant at such a young age is bad for young people, both in terms of their health and their finances. It was also said that having a child at such a young age is bad for a teenager’s health because their bodies aren’t ready to carry a child and can sometimes lead to the death of newborns and infants.

Since the childbearing years of a female are between the ages of 15 and 49, there is a tendency to have repeat pregnancies, which may lead to having more children and the possibility of having multiple partners, which is a health risk.

According to the commission, based on studies involving the very young adolescence of 10–14 years old, female teens who get pregnant have older male partners. Due to this, Republic Acts 11596 and 11648 were created to protect the said age group from child marriage and increase the age of sexual consent from 12 to 16 years old.

With the number of teenage pregnancies going up, POPCOM-10 and the local government units (LGUs) have stepped up their efforts to stop them. The commission helps the LGUs plan and get ready for programs that will be used, like setting up a teen center to deal with the problems mentioned above.

“We have a new program being implemented for teen moms and their children called a “social program for adolescent moms and their children.” It is like 4Ps, where they will receive a monthly stipend to support them finish their studies and livelihood programs for them to be able to support the needs of their child,” says POPCOM-10 Technical Section Head Jeremias Cabasan.

POPCOM urges everyone to work together to better address the teenage pregnancy case in the region. Teenage pregnancies are caused by many things, including the teens themselves, their families, the community, and even how policies are put into place. This means that the solution can’t just be found in POPCOM, the Department of Health, or the Department of Education. Instead, there needs to be a collaboration between different agencies and sectors. (JAKA/PIA-10)

Nahitabo sulod sa orientation ang session sa tanang Development Management Officers (DMOs) diin gihisgutan ang UHC og ang strategic planning on the characteristics sa Local Health Systems Maturity Level.

Gisundan dayon sa pagpasabot sa UHC LHS ML characteristics ngadto sa mga membro sa UHC Bukidnon Technical Working Goup sa Kagamhanang Probinsyal sa Bukidnon.

Gihisgutang usab ang mahimong sunod nga mga lakang nga pagahimoun aron matuman og makab-ot ang kina tibuk-ang tinguha niini nga masiguro ang patas nga pag-access sa de-kalidad og barato nga health care og proteksyon batok sa risgong pinansyal sa tanang katawhan sa Bukidnon.

Aplikasyon alang sa lisensya sa operasyon sa isa ka blood bank, gisuportahan sa SP

Gisuportahan sa 27th Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) ang sulat-hangyo ni Provincial Governor Rogelio Neil P. Roque, pinetsahan Enero 18, 2023, pinaagi sa Resolution No. 2023-1099(27th SP), kabahin sa aplikasyon sa Bukidnon Provincial Medical Center (BPMC), alang sa lisensya sa operasyon sa usa ka blood bank, isip nag-unang Blood Bank Center sa probinsya

Sa kasamtangan, ang BPMC nga nahimutang sa syudad sa Malaybalay, adunay blood bank nga mao ang nagpahigayon sa blood screening, donor selection and collection of blood unit, onsite og off-site o mobile blood donation activity.

Uban sa bag-o ug dugang ekipo, mahimo na nga makadonar ug dugo ug ang dugo mahimong masalang aron masiguro ang taas nga kalidad, insakto ug luwas ang dugo nga madawat sa mga pasyente.

Sa maong lakang, ang laboratory sa BPMC gikinahanglang mag-apply sa lisensya alang sa operasyon sa blood bank with additional function, diin kini gikinahanglan isip usa sa mga kinahanglang dokumento nga gitakda sa Regulatory, Licensing and Enforcement Division (RLED) sa Department of Health alang sa pag-abroba sa maong aplikasyon.
