IMPASUG-ONG, Bukidnon – To enhance high-value crop production in the locality, the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-RFO 10) turned over a Spring Development Project to the Kibenton High Value Crops Farmers Association (KHVCFA) in Barangay Kibenton, this town
Funded under its High Value Crops Development Program, the PHP 1.8 million worth project includes a reservoir which can store up to 34 cubic meters of water. It is set to directly benefit 25 farmer-beneficiaries growing crops such as cabbage, carrots, and sayote, among others. The irrigation also has a target service area of 25 hectares, with a potential expansion capacity of up to 80 hectares.
Representing Regional Executive Director Jose Apollo Y. Pacamalan, OIC-Provincial Operations Chief of Bukidnon Jamaica L. Docdoc shared that the initiative aims to improve farm productivity amidst climate change through the provision of a reliable water source.
On the other hand, KHVCFA President Mark Anthony Oximer shared his gratitude for the project and expressed the association’s commitment to maintain the facility to ensure its long-term sustainability.
“Even during the dry season, we will now be able to continue planting. We will take great care of this project so that the next generation can benefit from it as well,” the president shared.
