Matigsalug IP Village officially turned over in Kitaotao

KITAOTAO, Bukidnon – The Matigsalug Indigenous Peoples (IP) Village in Brgy. Napalico (Lorega), Kitaotao, was officially turned over on October 24, 2025, marking a milestone in community development and peacebuilding efforts

According to a press release from the 89th Infantry Battalion, the project benefits 36 Matigsalug families and nine Former Rebels (FRs), symbolizing the government’s enduring commitment to reintegration and lasting peace.

The turnover ceremony highlighted the unwavering support of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Kitaotao, led by Mayor Edwin P. Abucayan, whose dedication to inclusive development helped bring the IP Village to fruition in partnership with the National Housing Authority (NHA).

The event was graced by Lieutenant Colonel Antonio G. Bulao I, commanding officer of the 89th Infantry (MAKATAO) Battalion, alongside Captain Christian Rumbaoa, operations officer, and Captain Sidrac C. Alicog, Charlie Company commander. Their presence reinforced the vital role of the Armed Forces in supporting IP and FR communities.

The active participation of the LGU, local leaders, and the Matigsalug community exemplified the spirit of cooperation, unity, and shared purpose, reflecting a collective drive toward sustainable development and peace.

The formal turnover of the village underscores a strong partnership between the Armed Forces of the Philippines, LGU Kitaotao, and the local community, fostering inclusive growth, self-reliance, and social transformation.

The 89th Infantry Battalion reaffirmed its commitment to advancing peace and development initiatives, ensuring that IP and FR communities continue to thrive in an environment grounded in cooperation, resilience, and nation-building. (melbmadera)
