SUMILAO, Bukidnon — Farmers in Sumilao are expected to gain easier access to markets with
the turnover of P25 million worth of farm-to-market roads in Barangays Kisolon and San
Vicente, helping ease the transport of agricultural produce from farms to buyers.
Mayor Venice Marie P. Villo said the local government also completed a P1.15-million modern
steel shed for community activities and public services.
“Funded through the national government’s LGSF-SBDP [Local Government Support
Fund–Support to Barangay Development Program] and SGLGIF [Seal of Good Local
Governance Incentive Fund], these infrastructure projects aim to ease the transport of
agricultural produce and help farmers bring their harvests to buyers,” Villo said.
She said the road projects cover Purok 5A–5B and Purok 3 in Barangay Kisolon and another site
in Barangay San Vicente.
“The municipality also built a modern steel shed at the Municipal Plaza in Kisolon to
accommodate community activities and public services,” Villo said.
Records showed that the four projects received a combined P26,153,000 through the Local
Government Support Fund–Financial Assistance to Local Government Units (LGSF-FALGU),
Local Government Support Fund–Support to Barangay Development Program (LGSF-SBDP),
and Seal of Good Local Governance Incentive Fund (SGLGIF).
Of the total investment, P20 million went to the Purok 5A–5B road, while P2.5 million each
funded the Purok 3 road and the road in Barangay San Vicente. The remaining P1.153 million
covered the steel shed.
Villo said the investments support Sumilao’s efforts to expand economic opportunities and
improve access to essential services, with better road access helping farmers transport their
harvests to market more efficiently, ease hauling difficulties, and facilitate sales.
She added that the steel shed will provide a covered venue for municipal services, public
gatherings, and community activities.
“The projects support the national government’s rural infrastructure development priorities.
Their long-term benefits will depend on proper maintenance and continued use by farmers and
residents,” the mayor said. (GFLA/PIA-10/Bukidnon)
