Brgy. San Martin beat secures ‘Miss Malaybalay 2023’ crown!

MALAYBALAY CITY – On December 28, 2023, the Kaamulan Open Theatre witnessed the grandeur of the most anticipated event in Malaybalay, where 15 equally stunning and remarkable women vied for the prestigious title of Miss Malaybalay 2023

The competition encompassed four categories: the production number, where candidates showcased their dance routine titled “SAKA ta Malaybalay” – the city’s phenomenal promotional theme song, swimwear, preliminary Q and A (held earlier in the morning), and evening gown.

At the conclusion of the event, Ms. Genirose Calambro, a Master of Business Administration student at Capitol University from Barangay San Martin, emerged victorious.

Ms. Calambro not only secured the Miss Malaybalay 2023 title but also garnered several special awards, including Best in Swimsuit, Best in Gown, Pretty Fresh Choice Award, Avail Beauty Philippine Choice Award, and Miss El Clinica Dental.

The first runner-up (Miss Malaybalay – Agri Eco Tourism 2023), Ms. Krissha Nely C. Tago from Barangay San Jose, clinched the Ms. Luxrynph02, Ms. Gemma’s Choice Award, Ms. Congeniality, and Best in Production Number.

Other members of the winning circle were Ms. Christine Roselle Angela G. Torres of Barangay 05 – 2nd Runner Up (Miss Malaybalay – Kultura 2023), Ms. Apple Mae Lucero of Barangay 11 – 3rd Runner Up (Miss Malaybalay – Sports Tourism 2023), and Ms. Liz Leanna M. Lapuz of Barangay 02 – 4th Runner Up (Miss Malaybalay – Adventure Tourism 2023).

Other finalists of the pageant included Ma. Sheinah M. Salvo – Patpat, Deejay Claire L. Jabayjabay – Can-ayan, Ms. Trixie Lapar of Barangay 07, who also received the Darling of the Press and Miss Photogenic Awards, Reizel Jean Gorre of St. Peter, Necolle S. Sario of Kalasungay, Aryhen Mae D. Ranoa of Laguitas, Maria Michaela R. Boral of Barangay 09, Aya Katrice D. Genosa of Sinanglanan, Erica Jhude P. Sulatan of Casisang, and Kheena April C. Litanon of Sumpong.

The glittering night was graced by the presence of the country’s most sought-after personalities in pageantry, including Ms. Michelle Arceo – Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas 2023, Jan Mendajar – World-renowned pageant and runway coach, Mr. Norman Tinio – Pageant Blogger, Dr. Erwin John Elmido – Dentist of the Stars, and Mr. Francis Chee – Creative Director of Miss World Philippines. The event was hosted by Cagayan de Oro’s renowned hosts, Ms. Christer Kim and Elton Ladd.

City Mayor Jay Warren R. Pabillaran, in his speech, emphasized that competitions like this provide a platform for young women in Malaybalay to showcase their beauty, talent, and causes.
Ms. Calambro, as the newly crowned Miss Malaybalay 2023, is set to have an exciting year ahead, participating in various programs and activities of the city and representing the city in Miss World Philippines later this year.

The event’s success was made possible through the efforts of the Technical Working Group, headed by City Administrator Atty. Anna Marie R. Bergado, with members including City Councilors Hon. Kathleen Cecile C. Pagaling and Hon. Royland M. Orquia, Ms. Honolu Marie C. Cruzin – Supervising Tourism Operations Officer, Dr. Dennis P. Sangalang – City Health Officer, Mr. Carlito R. Juarez – City Accountant, Ms. Dioscora R. Niere – CGSO Designate, Ms. Ma. Anita L. Fernandez – City ENRO, Mr. Romeo R. Lapeciros -CCEDM Officer Designate, and Mr. Alan J. Comiso – CDRRM Officer. The City Government of Malaybalay, headed by Mayor Pabillaran, played a crucial role in the event’s success.

CHO conducts Philhealth registration, profiling for PWDs in Malaybalay

In Celebration of the 45th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) week with the theme, “Persons with Disabilities Accessibility and Rights Towards a Sustainable Future Where No One is Left Behind,” the City Health Office (CHO) conducted Philhealth Konsulta Registration and Profiling to all Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) of this city including the Philhealth Forum to every Cluster barangay

Led by Dr. Dennis P. Sangalang, City Health Officer II, the initiative was made possible through the collaborative efforts of various key individuals and organizations.

Representatives such as Dr. Jade Gales-Hera and Dr. Jude Rey Pagaling, along with CSWD Officer Ivy Amor Urbina and Ms. Mechelle Timones, the PWD in charge, and Mr. Romulo Lapuz Jr., the Chief Local Insurance Officer of Bukidnon, worked together to ensure the success of the program.

Additionally, Mr. Cipriano Paguara and Ms. Dimple Walter were present as representatives, along with the unwavering support of City Mayor Hon. Atty Jay Warren R. Pabillaran and PWD Federation President Mr. Rudy T. Jimeno.

During the event, Mr. Paguara emphasized the significance of Universal Health Care in guaranteeing equitable access to healthcare goods and services for all Filipinos, thereby protecting them against financial risk. His statement, “‘Bawat Pilipino ay dapat Miyembro, Bawat Miyembro ay Protektado, kalusugan ng lahat ay Segurado sa Philhealth, Lahat ay Panalo,” echoed the program’s commitment to ensure health security for everyone.

Dr. Pagaling explained Philhealth Konsultasyong Sulit Tama (Konsulta) program, which offers comprehensive outpatient benefits as mandated by the Universal Health Care Law. The main objective of Konsulta is to provide financial risk protection for all Filipinos, especially concerning primary healthcare.

Under the Konsulta program, PhilHealth aims to enhance the health of its members by offering a package for early detection of diseases. This includes preventive care services such as consultations, health risk screening, and assessment.

Melanie Pajaron, the City Philhealth coordinator, expounded the Philhealth Konsulta outpatient package, which encompasses laboratory services that clients can avail themselves of during consultations, as requested by the physician. The package includes services like chest X-rays and ECGs. City Mayor Warren Pabillaran signed a special Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Bethel Hospital to facilitate access to ECG and Chest X-ray services.

The program has already made considerable progress, with successful registration in several barangays across the city: July 25, 2023: Poblacion Cluster Venue at Barangay 9 – 145 registered Philhealth Konsulta; July 26, 2023: Highway Cluster Venue at Barangay Aglayan – 110 registered; July 27, 2023: Basakan Cluster Venue at Barangay Violeta – 101 registered; and July 28, 2023: Upper Pulangui District Cluster Venue at Barangay Mapulo – 97 registered. Medical mission for flood victims held at Brgy Sinanglanan

The City Health Office, headed by Dr. Dennis P. Sangalang, recently conducted a medical mission for flood victims in Barangay Sinanglanan on Jan. 19, 2023. The team consisted of doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals who volunteered their time to provide much-needed care to those affected by the floods

The medical mission was set up in the covered court, where the health workers were able to provide a range of services, including medical consultations, laboratory tests, and vaccinations. They also distributed essential medicines and provided information on proper nutrition, disease prevention, and hygiene to help prevent the spread of illness.

The team worked determinedly to help as many people as possible, seeing over 188 patients in just one day. Many patients had been temporarily displaced from their homes and without access to medical care for some time. The health workers provided much-needed relief to those suffering from various health issues, including respiratory infections and skin diseases sustained during the floods.

The medical mission was a huge success, with many patients expressing gratitude for their care. The health workers were able to provide a lifeline to those affected by the floods, and both the local community praised their efforts.

The health workers were not only providing medical care but also inviting resource speakers from different sections in the City Health Office to provide education on how to keep healthy, and well-nourished, and prevent leptospirosis, which Nurse Fiona Dapigran, Jenny Jumamoy from Sanitation, Jezza Nina Marie Vega, and El Jene Lopena from Nutrition rendered.
