MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon – Reinforcing its commitment to building a more resilient
agricultural sector, the Department of Agriculture–Regional Field Office 10 (DA-10) conducted an Information Caravan on July 15, equipping Bukidnon farmers with knowledge and strategies
to address the growing challenges posed by climate change and other threats to agriculture.

The DA-10 said nearly 200 participants—including farmers, members of Farmers’ Cooperatives
and Associations (FCAs), representatives from Municipal Agriculture Offices (MAOs), and
Local Farmer Technicians (LFTs) from across the province—gathered for the activity, which
aimed to provide timely information, practical guidance, and updates on key agricultural
programs.
The caravan featured discussions on the latest El Niño advisories and preparedness measures, the
upcoming observance of National Rice Awareness Month (NRAM) in November, and the
Department’s digital transformation initiatives designed to enhance farmers’ access to agricultural
services, information, and government support.
Regional Executive Director Jose Apollo Y. Pacamalan emphasized that empowering farmers
with knowledge is essential to safeguarding food production and ensuring long-term agricultural
sustainability.
“We need to understand the challenges we face so that we can take the right action. Every
problem that we can solve must be addressed. We need to strengthen our capacity to respond to
whatever diseases or threats may affect our farms and fields, rather than simply accepting them,”
Pacamalan said.

Beyond the technical discussions, the Information Caravan also served as a venue for farmers to
voice their concerns, seek clarification, and engage directly with DA-10 personnel on pressing
agricultural issues and the government programs available to support their livelihoods.
Anchored on the Department’s “Para sa Masaganang Bagong Pilipinas” vision, the initiative
reflects DA-10’s continuing efforts to empower farming communities through knowledge-
sharing, climate preparedness, and innovation—helping farmers become more resilient,
productive, and better equipped to meet the demands of a changing agricultural landscape.
