MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon — The provincial government of Bukidnon and all 22 of its
component local government units received Gawad Kalasag 2026 recognition for their disaster
risk reduction and management efforts, with 13 earning the Gold Seal, seven the Silver Seal and
three the Bronze Seal.

The awards were conferred by the Northern Mindanao regional office of the Office of Civil
Defense (OCD) on Sept. 23, 2026, recognizing local governments for their disaster resilience,
preparedness and response efforts.
The Gold Seal award went to the towns of Cabanglasan, Dangcagan, Don Carlos, Impasug-ong,
Kadingilan, Kalilangan, Lantapan, Libona, Malitbog, Maramag and San Fernando, and the cities
of Malaybalay and Valencia.
The Gold Seal is given to LGUs that exceed the prescribed standards for the establishment and
functionality of their Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (LDRRMCs) and
Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (LDRRMOs) under Sections 11 and 12
of Republic Act No. 10121, or the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of
2010.
The provincial government of Bukidnon received a Silver Seal along with the municipalities of
Baungon, Kibawe, Kitaotao, Manolo Fortich, Pangantucan and Sumilao.
The Silver Seal recognizes LGUs that demonstrate satisfactory performance in establishing and
maintaining functional LDRRMCs and LDRRMOs in accordance with the standards set under
RA 10121.
Meanwhile, the municipalities of Damulog, Quezon and Talakag received the Bronze Seal for
generally adhering to the standards for the establishment and functionality of their local disaster
risk reduction and management councils and offices.
The Gawad Kalasag is an annual recognition program that highlights local government efforts to
strengthen disaster preparedness, risk reduction, response and resilience. (melbmadera)
