Drug suspect evades arrest in Malaybalay

MALAYBALAY VITY (Apr. 26) – A drug suspect evaded arrest in a buy-bust operation at Purok 3, Brgy. San Jose, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon afternoon on April 24.

Col. Roel L. Lami-ing, provincial director of Bukidnon Police Provincial Office (BPPO), said personnel of Malaybalay City Drug Enforcement Unit conducted the operation with PDEA Pre. Ops no. 30002-042020-0149 at the place against Junrey Ortega, a drug listed, legal age, married, and a resident of Brgy. Dalwangan, Malaybalay City.

Ortega, who sensed he was dealing with a police officer, pulled his handgun tucked on his waist and shot the police officer who acted as poseur buyer but missed.

However, the windshield, including the front door window of the unmarked vehicle of the responding backup policemen owned by a police officer, were hit.

The suspect fled at the scene and successfully evaded arrest. Policemen tried to catch the fleeing suspect but failed to get him.

Policemen recovered during the operation a sachet of suspected shabu as buy-bust item, P500 buy-bust money, another four sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated total weight of 10 grams with an estimated market value of ₱68,000.00, an improvised glass tube with attached plastic hose color green and a Sunglass case color black.

The physical Inventory was made at the place of operation in the presence of a Barangay Kagawad of Brgy. San Jose and a representative from media.

The recovered evidences were brought to Malaybalay City Police Station for proper disposition and later were turned over to Bukidnon Provincial Crime Laboratory Office in Malaybalay City.

Policemen are preparing a case for Violation of Article II, sections 05, 11, and 12 of R.A. 9165 known as Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and Multiple Frustrated MURDER.
